DAMASCUS, Feb 8 (NNN-SANA) – Turkey brought in new military gear to Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib on Friday, a war monitor reported.
A military convoy of 100 vehicles, including tanks and armoured vehicles, as well as, military radars, entered Idlib, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The opposition monitor group said, it’s the first time Turkey brings in radars to Idlib.
It added that, the Turkish forces created a new military base east of Idlib province.
Earlier in the day, the observatory said, calm prevailed in Idlib, during the past 16 hours, after the Syrian army captured the city of Saraqeb in Idlib’s countryside.
Both the airstrike and the ground artillery shelling have come to a halt, for the first time since the military operation started in Idlib and Aleppo countryside 15 days ago, according to the Observatory.
The Britain-based pro-rebel monitor, however, said, the battles are still going on between the army and the rebel groups, in the southern countryside of Aleppo.
The calm in Idlib comes a day after the army captured the key city of Saraqeb, the second most important city the Syrian army has captured, in its efforts to secure the Damascus-Aleppo highway, which is the main road connecting southern Syria with the north.– NNN-SANA
