SINGAPORE, Feb 7 (NNN-BERNAMA) – The Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed three additional cases of 2019 novel coronavirus infection in the republic, bringing the total to 33.
In its latest update, the MOH said they comprise Singapore citizens with no known links to previous cases or no recent travel history to China.
Two of them had been in Malaysia on Jan 6, 11,17 and Jan 22 to 29, respectively.
Updating on the condition of confirmed cases, the MOH said two have been discharged and two are in critical condition.
Following the latest development concerning the coronavirus infection in the republic, Singapore has raised its disease outbreak response system condition level (DORSCON) from Yellow to Orange.
With this, Singapore will be introducing additional precautionary measures to minimise the risk of further transmission of the virus.
The ministry also advised event organisers to cancel or defer non-essential large-scale events.
For those who choose to proceed, the MOH said they should take all necessary precautions that include temperature screening; looking out for respiratory symptoms such as cough or runny nose and denying entry to unwell individuals.
The republic also raised protection levels for vulnerable groups, whereby, among others, with immediate effect schools will suspend inter-school and external activities till the end of the March school holidays.
