Senior Palestinian Official Criticises U.S. President’s Adviser

RAMALLAH, Palestine, Feb 3 (NNN-WAFA) – Senior Palestinian official, Saeb Erekat, criticised U.S. President, Donald Trump’s adviser and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, over his remarks holding Erekat responsible for failing to reach peace agreement with Israel.

Kushner accused Erekat, Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, of having “a perfect track record at failing making peace deals” during an interview with an Arab TV station.

He said, the Palestinians can negotiate with Israel over the map, proposed in the U.S. peace deal, that was unveiled recently, despite their outright rejection of the entire deal.

In response, Erekat said, Kushner is trying to distort the Palestinian positions, by making statements that contradict with the reality of their actions.

“We will strive to achieve a Palestinian state with the support of all believers in the justice of our cause, armed with law and international legitimacy,” added Erekat, who has been the chief Palestinian negotiator since 2009.

“The so-call deal of the century, dictated the outcome of borders, Jerusalem, refugees, security, settlements and water. These issues are agreed to be negotiated between Palestinians and Israelis as permanent status issues,” he said.

“When I say these issues must be negotiated between us and Israel directly, Kushner responded by calling me a failed negotiator … and he negotiated on my behalf … This is the art of dictation, arrogance and blackmail,” Erekat added.

Palestine has rejected the U.S. Middle East peace plan and said, the plan is in breach of international law and UN resolutions.– NNN-WAFA
