Erdogan Says Turkey May Consider Using Military Force In Idlib

ISTANBUL, Feb 1 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said, Turkey might consider launching a military operation, if the bombardments in Syria’s province of Idlib continue.

“We sincerely want stability in Syria and will not hesitate to do whatever it takes, including using military force,” Erdogan said in Ankara.

The Syrian government forces, backed by Russia, have been carrying out airstrikes in Idlib, the last stronghold of rebels in Syria, forcing civilians to leave their homes.

“Our country, which currently hosts 3.6 million Syrians, has no tolerance for a new wave of migration,” Erdogan said, adding, Turkey will not remain silent on the issue.

Erdogan earlier noted that, nearly 400,000 people from Idlib have started moving towards Turkey’s border, fleeing hostility in the region.

The Idlib issue has also strained ties between Turkey and Russia.

Erdogan blamed Russia of not abiding by agreements inked earlier, to end the conflict in Idlib.– NNN-ANADOLU
