Plane Crashes In Afghanistan’s Eastern Ghazni Province

KABUL, Jan 28 (NNN-AGENCIES) – A passenger plane crashed, in Afghanistan’s eastern Ghazni province on Monday, with dozens killed or injured, a member of the provincial council, Khaliqdad Akbari, said.

The crash took place in the Taliban-held area of Sadokhil, in Deh Yak district in the afternoon, he said.

Confirming the incident, Wahidullah Kalimzai, governor of the restive Ghazni province told local media that, the crashed aircraft belonged to a foreign company, but failed to identify it.

The governor also noted that, security forces had been sent to Sadokhil village, to secure the place of the incident.

Similarly, the spokesman, Aref Nuri, told media that, the plane crash occurred at 1:10 p.m. local time, on Monday.

Interior Ministry spokesman, Nasrat Rahimi, also confirmed the plane crash, in eastern Ghazni province.

Earlier reports said, the crashed plane belonged to Afghanistan’s national carrier, Ariana airlines.

Afghanistan’s Second Vice President, Sarwar Danesh, said that the crashed plane belonged to the state-run Ariana airliner company.

However, Ariana’s acting chief, Mirwais Mirzakalwal, rejected the report, saying, Ariana had two flights on Monday and both planes reached safe and sound at their destinations.

In the meantime, no private aviation company has confirmed the plane crash, nor did the Taliban outfit report the incident in its held territory.– NNN-AGENCIES
