Ocean Viking rescues 184 more migrants, 407 onboard

ROME, Jan 28 (NNN-ANSA) — In another two rescue operations conducted over the night between Sunday and Monday, the Ocean Viking vessel rescued 102 people some 80 kilometers off Libya and 82 in Maltese search and rescue waters.

There are currently 407 people onboard who have bene rescued over the 72 hours by the ship operated by the Sos Mediterranee and MSF NGOs.

In three days, at least 13 boats carrying migrants fled from Libya with almost 800 people onboard, according to Alarm Phone, a telephone service assisting migrants in difficulty in the Mediterranean Sea, Italian news agency ANSAmed reported.

Some 720 reached Europe, it said.
