MUMBAI, India, Jan 12 (NNN-PTI) – Eight persons have died and several more are feared trapped, following an explosion in a factory at Tarapur Industrial Area, 111 km from Mumbai, in Palghar district of India’s South Western state of Maharashtra, on Saturday evening (last night).
A local police official confirmed the death of eight persons, and fire fighting operations are underway.
The blast was so severe that the noise could be heard at a distance of 25 to 30 km away, local media reported.
Electricity in the area was cut off, as a precautionary measure.– NNN-PTI
