UN Chief Appoints Deputy Mission Head To Support Hodeidah Agreement

UNITED NATIONS, Jan 8 (NNN-AGENCIES) – UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, announced the appointment of Daniela Kroslak of Germany, as the deputy head for the UN Mission to support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA).

The Hodeidah agreement stipulates a ceasefire in the Yemeni governorate of Hodeidah and the redeployment of Houthi rebel and Yemeni government forces from the port city of Hodeidah and nearby smaller ports of Saleef and Ras Issa.

Kroslak brings to the position much experience in the field, as well as, at the UN headquarters. Since 2018, she has been the chief of staff of the UN Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH). From 2014 to 2018, Kroslak was the principal officer for the Sudan Integrated Operational Team, within the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

She has also served as senior adviser and head of office for the Office of the Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan over 2012-2013, having previously been the senior political affairs officer within the UN headquarters, supporting both that office along with the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

Kroslak holds a Doctorate in International Politics and a Bachelor in International History and International Politics from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Britain.– NNN-AGENCIES
