ISTANBUL, Dec 31 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Strong wind swept through Turkey’s northwestern Marmara region on Monday, disrupting sea and air traffic.
The city-line ferry agencies in Istanbul and the province of Bursa, cancelled all ferry services operating in the Marmara Sea.
The wind, with a speed of up to 100 km per hour, prevented some planes from landing, at the Istanbul Airport, local media reported.
The wind also caused damage to boarding bridges and ripped off some containers at the airport, the Cumhuriyet daily said.
The gust also uprooted several trees and blew off some roofs in Istanbul, and the northwestern province of Canakkale.– NNN-ANADOLU
