AirAsia flight headed to KL from Langkawi turns back

LANGKAWI, Dec 30 (NNN-BERNAMA) — An AirAsia flight headed to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) made a turn back three minutes after take off from the Langkawi International Airport (LTAB Langkawi) here this morning.

LTAB Langkawi Manager Jefry Ramli said the the plane which had on board 156 passengers and crew had taken off at 9.17 am before the turn back.

Jefry said he received information from the airport’s air traffic control at about 9.20 am on the flight AK 9327 having a technical issue.

Upon getting the alert, the Airport Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS), in line with Malaysia Airports’ Standard Operating Procedure, was already waiting with three fire engine in the event of any incident, he said.

“The AK 9327 made a safe landing at about 9.30 am accompanied by the three AFRS vehicles till it reached the aircraft parking lot,” he said in a statement today.

No passenger or crew were hurt in the incident and the flight has been rescheduled to fly at 4.45 pm Monday.
