ADDIS ABABA, Dec 29 (NNN-ENA) – The Ethiopian government said, preparations are well underway, for the successful holding of the upcoming 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU), to take place from Jan 21 to Feb 10, at the headquarters of the AU in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
The theme of the summit is “Silencing the Guns: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa’s Development.”
Yesterday, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, a national committee, drawn from all concerned stakeholders, has been working aggressively for the successful conduct of the summit.
The national committee is presently working on major activities, including transportation, security, and hotel, as well as, other accommodation services.
The AU Commission also recently announced that, it will reinforce its efforts to silence the continent’s guns in 2020, with a particular focus on addressing the underlying root-causes and facilitating socioeconomic development on the continent.– NNN-ENA
