US crew spacecraft Starliner starts unmanned flight test

WASHINGTON, Dec 21 (NNN-XINHUA) — A US spacecraft designed to fly astronauts to the International Space Station from the United States was launched on Friday morning for its maiden unmanned flight.

Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft lifted off on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket at 6:36 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time (1136 GMT) from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

About 15 minutes after blastoff, the spacecraft separated from the upper stage of the rocket, embarking on its inaugural flight to the International Space Station.

Onboard Boeing’s Starliner is a dummy called Rosie, who will provide a wealth of information about what astronauts will experience during flight aboard the spacecraft. — NNN-XINHUA
