Chinese Envoy Concerned Over Continued Jewish Settlement Activities In Occupied Palestine

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 19 (NNN-XINHUA) – Chinese UN envoy expressed concern, over continued settlement activities by Israel, in occupied Palestinian territory.

At a Security Council meeting on the Middle East, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Wu Haitao, noted that, settlement activities continued to advance and expand, and more Palestinian homes are being demolished, three years after Resolution 2334, designated them as illegal.

He also noted that, acts of violence and inflammatory rhetoric by parties concerned are escalating, and the Middle East peace process is stalled.

The envoy called on all parties, to “earnestly and effectively” implement Resolution 2334, stay on the right path towards a political solution, and adhere to the fundamental principle of fairness and justice.

He also urged that, the UN should be given a key role to play in this matter, so as to form a synergy between regional and international efforts, to push for a comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli question at an early date.– NNN-XINHUA
