KHARTOUM, Dec 13 (NNN-Xinhua) — Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan urged Arab countries to stand in solidarity with Sudan.

Al-Burhan made the remarks when addressing the conclusion of the 39th session of the General Assembly of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) held in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

“We call on the brothers and friends to support Sudan at this important phase, while Sudan shall remain supportive to its friends and brothers in all issues and at all times,” said Al-Burhan.

He commended the ASBU and its leadership for the achievements made in the past 50 years, including the building of a professional and independent union coping with the growing technological developments.

The ASBU meetings, held in Khartoum on Dec 5-12, indicated that “our country has recovered and pressed ahead towards the construction process,” Al-Burhan added.

He further reiterated the commitment of his government to work to achieve a comprehensive and fair peace, address the economic conditions, and ensure a good life for its citizens.

Khartoum’s hosting the ASBU meetings coincided with the union’s celebration of its 50th anniversary.

Founded in February 1969 in Khartoum, ASBU is a professional organization with the objective of strengthening ties and promoting cooperation among broadcasters in the Arab states for better production and content development. — NNN-XINHUA
