BEIRUT, Dec 11 (NNN-XINHUA) – Hundreds of protesters stormed the municipal building, of the Lebanese northern town of Mina, in Tripoli city, after the death of two Syrians, in the collapse of a building in the town, LBCI TV channel reported.
Protesters broke windows, destroyed furniture and appliances, and set part of the building on fire.
They accused the municipality of failing to properly maintain the collapsed building, and the municipality’s head of being corrupt.
Later in the day, members of the municipality submitted their resignations, calling for the resignation of the municipality’s head, to transfer its tasks to Tripoli’s governor.
Early on Tuesday, the collapse of an old two-floor building, killed a Syrian man and his sister, residing in the building.– NNN-XINHUA
