RAMALLAH, Palestine, Dec 10 (NNN-WAFA) – Some 180 vehicles belonging to Palestinians were vandalised on Monday evening (last night), in East Jerusalem.

A group of Israeli settlers slashed tires of the cars and spray-painted anti-Arab racist slogans on walls, in the town of Shuafat, overnight, local sources said.

The Palestinian foreign ministry described the onslaught as “a new episode in the ongoing attacks against Palestinians.”

In another development, the Palestinian city of Hebron witnessed a strike on Monday (yesterday), in protest against a new Israeli plan, to build more settlement units in the old city market.

Shops and both public and private institutions shut their doors for the day, as part of the strike that was called for by Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah Movement, in the southern West Bank city.

On Dec 1, Israeli Defence Minister, Naftali Bennet, approved the construction of a new settlement in Hebron.

Statistics show that, around 400,000 Israelis live in 135 settlements and 100 illegal outposts in the West Bank, where the Palestinian population has reached 2.6 million.– NNN-WAFA
