Qatar In Talks With Saudi Arabia Over Gulf Crisis

DOHA, Dec 7 (NNN-QNA) – Qatari foreign minister said that, his country is under talks with Saudi Arabia on the Gulf crisis, expressing hopes for positive results.

“We moved from a dead end in the Gulf crisis to a talk of future vision, on relations between the two sides,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatari foreign minister, was quoted as saying.

The foreign minister said, Qatar has its own independent policy and internal affairs that are not going to be an item on any negotiating tables.

The Qatari foreign minister’s remarks came, three days after Saudi Arabia sent a written message to Qatar, to attend the 40th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), to be held in Riyadh on Dec 10.

On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic, trade and travel ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting “terrorism.” Qatar has repeatedly denied the allegations as “baseless.”– NNN-QNA
