Seminar Held On Chinese-Jordanian Cultural Cooperation

AMMAN, Dec 1 (NNN-PETRA) – The Cultural Cooperation Committee between China and Jordan, held a seminar on Sino-Jordanian cultural ties, in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

The seminar was held in cooperation with the Chinese embassy in Amman and the Jordanian Society for Science and Culture.

Samir Habashneh, head of the committee, spoke highly of the ties between Jordan and China, applauding China’s support of and stances on the Palestinian issue.

“We are keen on developing our cultural and tourism cooperation, as around 150 million Chinese travelled abroad last year,” said Habashneh.

The seminar was held on the occasion of a visit by a Chinese delegation, representing the International Exchange and Cooperation Bureau, Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Zhu Qi, deputy director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Bureau, stressed that, the two countries highly value their cooperation and cultural exchanges, and there has been an exchange of visits by officials and intellectuals from both countries.

He added, China sent 15 delegations to Jordan, since 2004, to take part in various cultural activities, such as the Jerash Festival and the Amman Summer Festival.

He said, China and Jordan both boast a long history and rich tourism destinations, adding that, more than 28,000 Jordanians visited China in 2018.

Cultural Attache at the Chinese embassy in Amman, Yang Ronghao, said, ties between the two countries witnessed great leaps over the past period and there has been an intensified exchange of visits between the two countries.

He added that a Chinese cultural centre will open in Amman next year, to raise more awareness among Jordanians on Chinese culture, arts, language, and activities.– NNN-PETRA
