KOTA KINABALU, Nov 26 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Sabah government has expressed its appreciation to the media, commending especially committed journalists who travel into the state’s interior to secure authentic information concerning a situation.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said this demonstrated the commitment of the media practitioners to ensure every news produced and disseminated to the readers is true and accurate while presenting a clearer picture of a given situation.
He also expressed hope that media practitioners in the state would continue to play an important role in providing accurate and important information to the people towards taking Malaysia, specifically Sabah forward and to more progress.
The CM said this in his speech at the launch of the 2019 Kinabalu Media Award Monday night.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew and Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau and Sabah Journalist Association president Datuk Muguntan Vanar.
Winners at the event included Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Sabah Bureau journalist and photographer who took home six merit awards in four categories.
Journalist, Noorazlina Jindeh took merit awards for her Entertainment, Cultural and Arts reports while photographer Arjasneh Ahmad won merits in the categories of Best News Photography Award, Environment Photography Award and Best Photography Award.
Also winning two merits in the event was photographer Zamain Singkui for Environment Photography Award and Best Photography Award.
