BEIRUT, Nov 20 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanon’s Hezbollah, slammed the announcement by U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, that legitimises Israeli settlements in the West Bank, al-Manar local news website reported.
“Pompeo’s announcement is illegitimate, unacceptable and illegal, as it contradicts international conventions which the United States pretends to commit to,” Hezbollah said in a statement.
This new step is a clear attempt by Washington, to eliminate the Palestinian cause, but will not change anything on the ground, it added.
“The Palestinian people will keep on fighting until they fully recuperate their lands,” the statement noted.
Pompeo announced on Monday that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump will no longer abide by a 1978 State Department legal opinion, that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank were “inconsistent with international law.”– NNN-NNA
