RAMALLAH/GAZA, Nov 16 (NNN-MA’AN) – The Palestinian Authority (PA), condemned Israel’s adherence to the “assassination policies” against Palestinians.
“It is a disregard of the life and blood of Palestinian citizens, and reflects the plan of the law of the jungle, which is promoted by Israel, America and some European countries,” the PA ministry of foreign affairs said, in a press statement.
The statement clarified that, “when Israel kills a Palestinian, it falls within the concept of self-defence. But the right to self-defence stops, when it is applied to our people (Palestinians) when this act becomes a terrorist act, according to the law.”
On Tuesday morning, Israel killed senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement militant, Baha Abu el-Atta and his wife, in an airstrike waged on the family house in eastern Gaza City.
A new wave of tension between Israel and Gaza militants, which ended on Thursday morning, with a fragile cease-fire, had killed 35 Palestinians and wounded 110 others, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Earlier on Friday, the Islamic Hamas movement’s armed wing announced that, one of its militants succumbed to the serious wounds he had, when Israeli warplanes struck on eastern Gaza on Wednesday.
“The remarks of high-ranking Israeli officials, on adhering to the assassination of Palestinians, are disgusting and carry hatred, racism, national supremacy, and a claim of immunity and protection,” said the PA foreign affairs ministry.
Earlier on Friday, Matthias Schmale, head of operations of the United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA), expressed hope that the last cease-fire in Gaza, which was brokered by Egypt, would put an end to escalation and violence.
The global agency for Palestinian refugees had earlier said, the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip had left 34 Palestinians dead, including eight children and dozens of others injured.
“It is absolutely unacceptable that civilians, especially children, lose their lives in such a terrible way; these children should go to school, enjoy their childhood and prepare for a better future,” said Schmale.– NNN-MA’AN
