Plenary session of Tunisia’s parliament kicks off with newly elected members

Newly elected members of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (ARP) take oaths during the first plenary session in Tunis

TUNIS, Nov 14 (NNN-Xinhua) — In the presence of the 217 new members elected in the legislative election on Oct. 6, the first plenary session of the second term 2019-2024 of the new Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP) started Wednesday at the Tunisian parliament headquarters.

The session began with a speech by Abdelfattah Mourou, outgoing president of the parliament .

He stressed the heavy responsibilities that await them, referring to the promulgation of the finance law and the discussion of the state budget for 2020, a year he described as “critical.”

According to the outgoing president of the ARP, the parliament is a space for dialogue, discussion and difference.

“New deputies must work together in the service of the citizens who expect concrete achievements from them,” he stressed. — NNN-XINHUA
