BANGKOK, Nov 7 (NNN-TNA) – Mega transport projects and emerging investments in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), will set precedent in spurring economy from next year onward, said Thai Deputy Prime Minister, Somkid Jatusripitak.
The projects include the expansion of the Map Ta Phut industrial zone and the Laem Chabang port, and the construction of a high-speed railway in the EEC, linking Thailand’s three major airports, Somkid said here.
The deputy prime minister noted that the government will quickly work out city planning for the EEC, to guarantee systematic development and management.
He also said that, the government will find ways to strengthen grass roots economy, through marketing campaigns, to promote communities’ products and tourism promotion in less popular tourist destinations.
The government hoped that the local economy stimulation could make up for the heavily affected exports, on which Thailand depended much, the deputy prime minister said.– NNN-TNA
