Palestinian Elections Chairman Revisits Gaza After Reaching Agreement With Hamas

GAZA, Palestine, Nov 4 (NNN-WAFA) – Chairman of Palestinian Central Election Commission, arrived in the Gaza Strip for talks with Hamas leaders, on holding the elections, the Palestinian liaison office said.

Hanna Nasser met with Yahya Sinwa, Hamas chief in Gaza, and other leaders of the movement, delivering Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas’ response to the agreement reached last week, between the commission and the Palestinian factions on holding un-synchronised elections.

“Today, we are receiving again the delegation of the elections commission, to hear from them the response of Ramallah on holding the elections,” said Sinwar, after receiving the delegation at his office in Gaza.

Hamas, which has been ruling the Gaza Strip since 2007, “will work to overcome all obstacles to the elections and Hamas is prepared and ready to join it.”

During his three-day visit to Gaza last week, Nasser and leaders of eight factions in the Palestinian enclave, signed an agreement to hold the parliamentary elections in the Palestinian territories first, and presidential elections three months later.– NNN-WAFA
