ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Reaffirms People-Centred Commitment

BANGKOK, Nov 1 (NNN-TNA) – The 27th Meeting of the Senior Officials Committee for the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Socio-Cultural Community (27th SOCA), reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to develop an ASEAN Community that is people-centred.

The commitment also includes developing a community that leaves no one behind, and looks to the future through initiatives to address socio-cultural issues of common concern, ranging from children and education to climate change and labour.

Porametee Vimolsiri, Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, said, in his capacity as chair of SOCA, outcome of the 27th meeting will be forwarded to and endorsed by ASEAN leaders at the 35th ASEAN Summit.

Thursday’s (yesterday’s) SOCA meeting was attended by 60 participants, including delegates from ASEAN member states.– NNN-TNA
