Four Rangers Injured In Thailand’s Restive South Bombing

BANGKOK, Oct 27 (NNN-TNA) – Four rangers were injured, when a roadside bomb exploded, in a district in Thailand’s restive southern province of Yala, on Saturday.

Police and army officials reached the scene and found a wrecked pickup truck, with a hole on the truck’s side.

Police believed the truck was damaged by the bomb explosion.

All four rangers on the truck were immediately sent to hospital for treatment of tinnitus. One ranger suffered from chest pain.

The bombing occurred when Deputy Prime Minister, Prawit Wongsuwon visited Yala, to help the province promote new crops – bamboo and coffee – grown in the province, to create employment in the region.

The insurgency in Thailand’s Muslim South has claimed the lives of nearly 7,000 people, since 2004, and peace talks have largely stalled.– NNN-TNA
