NEW DELHI, Oct 24 (NNN-PTI) – As many as 42 percent of Indians prefer making payments using the digital methods and desist from cash payments, a latest survey revealed.
Most of the consumers making digital payments are youngsters.
The survey, conducted by ACI Worldwide and YouGov, also found that over 32 percent of those surveyed said, they did not use cash for festival season purchases.
“When it comes to shopping during the festive season, Indians prefer using the digital methods. The survey found that 42 percent of consumers in India, prefer digital payments with card payments preferred by 29 percent of consumers and 27 percent choosing to pay with cash, the official release notes,” said the survey.
The preference for digital payments, including “eWallet” and “UPI” payments, is more pronounced with younger consumers.
Notably, for nearly one in three respondents, festival season spending has become largely cashless with 32 percent of those surveyed not having used cash for festival season purchases.– NNN-PTI
