TEHRAN, Oct 19 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, discussed the latest developments in Syria, with his Turkish counterpart, over the phone on Friday.
In the conversation, Zarif and Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, discussed the current situation in northern Syria, following Turkey’s agreement to temporarily halt its operation.
On Thursday, Zarif also discussed the latest regional developments in northern Syria with the Russian, Iraqi and Syrian foreign ministers, over the phone.
Following the recent withdrawal of the United States from northern Syria, Turkish soldiers, on Oct 9, launched an assault on Kurdish fighters, whom Turkey considers as “terrorists” in northern Syria.
On Thursday, Turkey agreed to a five-day ceasefire in northeast Syria, to allow for withdrawal of Kurdish forces.– NNN-IRNA
