NEW DELHI, Oct 15 (NNN-PTI) – Five people died, in a car accident in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, police said today (Tuesday).
The incident occurred on Monday night, near a bridge in Nainbagh town of Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand.
Police said, out of seven people aboard in the car, five died and two were injured and taken to hospital.
Police said, investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Around 150,000 people died in road accidents in India every year.
In Sept, the Motor Vehicles Act was amended, and hefty fines have been imposed on those found guilty of violating traffic laws, like rash driving, not wearing helmets while riding a two-wheeler, or not putting seat belts while driving a four-wheeler.– NNN-PTI
