Brunei, Singapore To Strengthen Agri-food Collaboration

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 4 (NNN-BB NEWS) – Brunei and Singapore announced the establishment of a bilateral “Co-Working Group in Agri-food,” with a goal to facilitate collaboration between private sector agribusiness-based firms in the two countries.

The co-working group was co-announced by Brunei’s Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah and Singapore’s Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Teo Chee Hean during the 7th Brunei-Singapore Young Leaders’ Programme.

In a joint statement between Brunei’s Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, Teo Chee Hean stated that the co-working group is an important agreement in the special relationship between the two countries.

He explained that the co-working group will work towards facilitating collaboration between the two countries, in the field of agri-food, to attract investment and create employment, especially in aquaculture.

The Brunei Crown Prince stated his optimism in the works that will be carried out by the co-working group, which he believed will strengthen friendship and cooperation, which in its initial stage will be focused on cooperation in the field of aquaculture.

The joint statement also stated that, the co-working group will also facilitate cooperation between the private and public sectors in the two countries, such as, in investment facilitation, research and development cooperation, quality guarantees and capacity building.– NNN-BB NEWS
