KOTA KINABALU, Oct 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Marine Police detained a Vietnamese fishing boat with eight crew Monday afternoon.
Sabah Region Four Marine Police commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said the fishing boat was detained in the Sepanggar waters during the Ops Gelora by PPM.
“The inspection showed that the boat was using non-permissible fishing equipment and also found about two tonnes of fish of various kinds and lobsters,” he said in a statement here tonight.
Mohamad Pajeri said the boat had been directed to the headquarters of the Kota Kinabalu PPM operations for further investigation and police reports.
He said the seized items were estimated to be worth RM384,000.
The case is being investigated under Section 11 (3) (b) of the Fisheries Act 1985.
