KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Sept 28 (NNN-XINHUA) – Up to 15 people were wounded, as a blast hit Kandahar city, provincial capital of southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, today (Saturday), an official said.
Provincial police spokesman, Jamal Barikzai, said, investigation is underway to determine the reason for the blast.
Meanwhile, an official said, the blast hit a polling centre in the first Police District of Kandahar city, injuring 15 people, including a security personnel.
More than 9.4 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots, amid tight security from 7:00 a.m. (0230 GMT) to 3:00 p.m. (1030 GMT) local time today (Saturday), to select the country’s next president.
Sitting President, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, and the government Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah, are among the 18 candidates vying for the presidency, in the war-torn country.– NNN-XINHUA
