KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 (NNN-BERNAMA) — Malaysia has been chosen to be the host country for the High Dialogue on ASEAN – Italy Economic Relations 2020, June next year, according to the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
In a statement here today, MIDA said it was set to be the main partner alongside the Italy-ASEAN Association and The European House – Ambrosetti in organising the dialogue.
“This exclusive dialogue and networking platform will be attended by key stakeholders from the public and private sectors of ASEAN and Italy, to explore opportunities towards generating mutually beneficial outcomes.
“The esteemed dialogue is highly regarded in bringing together the brightest visionaries and competent opinion leaders of Italy and ASEAN to discuss innovative and relevant issues within the region,” said MIDA.
The Italy-ASEAN Association was founded in 2015 to strengthen the relationship between Italy and South East Asia in seizing the reciprocal opportunities for both firms and institutions within the region.
The European House – Ambrosetti is a professional group founded in 1965 boasting of a world-wide network of over 200 contacts on the highest level in various sectors.
MIDA said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Darell Leiking was currently on a working visit to Italy that began Sept 24 until 30, 2019, to meet potential investors, particularly in the aerospace, chemical, automotive and Industry 4.0 related sectors.
“In conjunction with the working visit, organised by MIDA, Darell met with the President of Italy-ASEAN Association Enrico Letta, and a representative from The European House – Ambrosetti to discuss on the organisation of the dialogue,” it said.
The Malaysian Ambassador to Italy Datuk Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino and MIDA chief executive officer Datuk Azman Mahmud were also present at the meeting.
