BEIRUT, Sept 18 (NNN-NNA) – A Lebanese judge issued an arrest warrant, against a Lebanese-American, who admitted that he had worked for Israel.
Najat Abu Shakra, Lebanon’s military investigative judge, decided to postpone the questioning of Amer al-Fakhoury, former chief of an Israel-linked prison in Lebanon, awaiting an approval from Lebanon’s Bar Association, for a U.S. lawyer to defend him.
Fakhoury, who holds a U.S. passport, was going to be questioned on charges related to cooperating with Israel and torturing Lebanese to death, while mistreating others in different ways, when Israel was still occupying Lebanon before the year 2000.
Fakhoury was arrested by Lebanon’s general security last Thursday, as part of the agency’s follow-up and tracking of Israeli agents in Lebanon.
He was referred to the judiciary last Friday, after admitting that he had worked for Israel.
Families of former prisoners protested in front of the military court, demanding for the execution of Fakhoury for the crimes he had committed.– NNN-NNA
