MEXICO CITY, Sept 12 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrado described the migration meeting between the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard and US Vice President Mike Pence at the White House, as a successful.
The president announced that he will be informed on Thursday in details about the meeting, but considered it was successful and there was a satisfactory setting for the two governments, he said.
He added that it was a cordial meeting diametrically different from the previous held three months ago with the US Vice President. On that occasion, he said, they were not rude, but they were in a more inflexible stance.
It was different now. There was an acknowledgment that our commitments were positively fulfilled and the risk and threat of imposing tariffs unilaterally on Mexican products was removed.
“It was a good meeting and Ebrard is going to inform me that there was an agreement between the parties on the migration issue consisting in maintaining the same policy of development cooperation, of friendship, of making a side the confrontation.”
Obrador thanked US President Donald Trump for maintaining a respectful attitude to Mexico and said it is critical to maintain and strengthen friendly relations with the United States and Canada.
“What we are just waiting now because we strongly consider that it is convenient for the three nations and their peoples to approve the trade agreement with the United States and Canada.
“I respectfully call upon those who have to solve this issue in both countries to help each other,” he said. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
