KUWAIT, Sept 12 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait will launch a campaign to eliminate counterfeit goods, Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Wednesday.
The counterfeit goods are negatively affecting the economy, because of its popularity and cheap prices and also affecting the environment of the country, which will harm consumers’ health, the ministry said.
Many official scientific studies have confirmed negative medical effects, threatening consumers’ health, because of the use of fake cosmetic products that mostly contains poor quality ingredients, the statement said, adding, the ministry is monitoring the market for any abnormalities.
In addition, it is monitoring the industrial sector for selling any fake items in clothes, shoes and bags, as well as, the information technology sector, such as, software programmes and computer spare parts and any other fake products found in the market.
The ministry aims to protect companies and consumers from commercial fraud and piracy, which pose a great national economic risk, the statement said, adding that, it is applying its authority by the law, to protect both the market and the consumer from the dangers of counterfeit goods.– NNN-KUNA
