PARIS, Sept 8 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — The French government announced on Saturday it has sent 38-strong firefighting brigade to Bolivia and will send three drones to help put out wildfires in the Amazon.
A joint communique from the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of the Interior adds that the firefighters and troops from Civil Security left from Vatry airport, in the northern department of Marne, with two tons of equipment that will be donated to fight the flames.
The French ambassador to Bolivia, Denis Gaillard, is accompanying the group that will fight wildfires hurting Santa Cruz, an eastern department that borders Brazil and Paraguay.
Today, three drones and four pilots were also sent to Bolivia to carry out reconnaissance missions in the areas affected by the fire, added the European nation’s authorities.
The assistance coordinated with the Bolivian government also includes the presence on the ground of six experts in fighting the flames and other troops since Sept 4, who reported back to help President Emmanuel Macron during the G-7 summit in Biarritz, held at the end of August, make decision to send the donation. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
