Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 8 – Brazil won in home soil after 12 years of not lifting the Copa America trophy by beating Peru 3-1 in the final on Sunday at the legendary Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The match was highly anticipated as the Brazilian national team had strolled through the first stages scoring 13 goals and finally only receiving one against by Peru in the final. Arunachal Pradesh, India, July 10- A view of the village after incessant rains triggered landslides and flash floods at Kaspi Nala near Nag-Mandir Tenga in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. The floods washed away several houses, restaurant, shops and over 800 people were reportedly to be stranded. An RCC bridge between Kaspi and Nagmandir was also washed away by floodwaters. Hanoi, Vietnam, July 10 – A scene from the Vietnamese movie Vợ Ba (The Third Wife). The movie has bagged the Special Mention at the Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival (BAFF) 2019. According to the jury, the movie is “a combination of a sensual delicacy and a dreamy atmosphere. The director gives nuances to a classic narrative style. Caracas, Venezuela, July 10 – In total, 14,701 fellow citizens, who were based in different countries, have returned to Venezuela. Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry reported Tuesday that a total of 90 Venezuelans will return to their country, after having lived in Ecuador. KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 – Malaysian Members of Parliament and journalists alike today extended birthday wishes inside and outside the Dewan Rakyat to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who turned 94 today.
Speaker Datuk Mohammad Ariff Md Yusof, representing the MPs, conveyed birthday wishes just before oral question time and expressed the hope that Dr Mahathir would have a long life, good health and wisdom to lead the country.
“On behalf of the members of the Dewan Rakyat, it is with great pleasure that I convey our congratulations on the 94th birthday of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
“Indeed, the spirit of determination of Right Honourable Tun at this age will inspire us all to empower this nation,” he said.
Dr Mahathir thanked Mohammad Ariff and went on to reply to a question from Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (PH-Jeli) on the performance of Malaysia Airlines Berhad.
At the Parliament lobby later, journalists joined in the celebration of Dr Mahathir’s birthday by singing ‘Happy Birthday’ after he had concluded a press conference.
