KHARTOUM, Aug 31 (NNN-Xinhua) — Acting Governor of eastern Sudan’s Red Sea State Hafez Al-Taj Al-Faki on Friday issued an emergency order banning gathering and carrying arms.
“Gathering, trespassing public and private properties, terrorizing citizens and disturbing security and safety are prohibited,” the emergency order said.
On Aug, 25, Sudan’s newly-formed Sovereign Council announced that the governor of Red Sea State was relieved of his post in the wake of deadly tribal clashes in the state.
On Aug. 22, violent clashes erupted between members of Bani Amer and Al-Nuba tribes in Port Sudan where the local government declared a curfew.
The clashes in Port Sudan are considered the extension of previous similar confrontations in a number of other cities in eastern Sudan, including Gadarif, Khashm al-Qirba and Kassala, between the same two tribes. — NNN-XINHUA
