Bangladesh: Action to be taken for travelling on train’s rooftops – Authority

DHAKA, Aug 30 (NNN-BSS) — Bangladesh Railway Authority declared that stern action would be taken against persons who travel on the train’s rooftops from Sept 1.

The authority has requested the passengers not to travel on the rooftops of train as it may cause accidental deaths and injuries, said an official press release.

Section 129 of Railways Act, 1890 stated that, “If a person rashly or negligently does any act, or omits to do what he is legally bound to do, and the act or omission is likely to endanger the safety of any person travelling or being upon the railway, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both”, added the release.

Moreover, a person who himself travels or initiates into rooftops traveling will be held guilty equally. — NNN-BSS
