CARACAS, Aug 29 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro reported that more than six million people in Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa have recovered their sight after receiving surgery through the Miracle Mission.
During a meeting to review the quality of medical services, Maduro noted that this project has represented an ‘impressive hard currency investment’, with the goal of restoring vision to citizens of diverse nations.
The Venezuelan president stressed that, ‘in Latin America two models are in dispute, that of the racist Donald Trump and that of the solidarity of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America, represented among other initiatives in the Miracle Mission.’
He also pointed out that hospitals and health centers in the Venezuelan states of Zulia, Tachira, Merida, Apure and Amazonas are overcrowded with Colombians, who receive free, quality health care in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The president announced that beginning in 2020, the Hugo Chavez University of Health Sciences, in the state of Merida, will offer seven postgraduate degrees and subspecialties in ophthalmology to strengthen the Miracle Mission.
On the 14th anniversary of the signing of the Sandino Commitment in 2005 by Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) and Fidel Castro (1926-2016) to ratify solidarity among peoples, this Tuesday the inauguration of the Love and Hope Dialysis Unit in the state of Lara was announced.
In the Central Hospital of Maracay, in Aragua, the Negra Matea Intensive Care Unit was also inaugurated, with eight beds, each with medical oxygen, vacuum suction, and compressed air, according to Governor Rodolfo Marco.
‘What we do in Venezuela is take care of the poorest, provide free health care, we have an inclusive and scientific social protection system,’ Maduro stressed.
The president also referred to the achievement of 96% coverage of children of polio vaccination age. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
