MUSCAT, Oman, Aug 28 (NNN-ONA) – The 11th meeting of the Standing Committee for Meteorology and Climate of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), kicked off Tuesday, in the Omani city of Salalah, to discuss enacting a unified law.
The meeting aims at enabling meteorological facilities in the GCC, to provide meteorological, aeronautic and maritime services, the Omani Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said.
The meeting will also consider means to conduct cooperation on weather monitoring and climate changes.
“We hope a unified law on meteorology will be adopted at this meeting. We also hope, a strategy for the work of meteorological facilities of the GCC states will be approved,” the release said.
The GCC, launched in 1981, is a regional inter-governmental political and economic organisation, whose members include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.– NNN-ONA
