LIMA, Aug 25 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Government of Peru has expressed concern over the forest fires in the Amazon rainforest and showed its solidarity to the affected countries.
Via Twitter, the Foreign Affairs Ministry assured that Peru remains attentive to the possibility that countries can require assistance to mitigate the effects of such unfortunate events.
Peru thus affirms its readiness to cooperate “in a region we share and that we are always willing to protect and defend.”
The forest fires consuming the Amazon rainforest in Brazil has captured the region’s attention, as the situation affects the largest tropical forest in the world.
The National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) affirmed those blazes have not yet affected the Peruvian Amazon. — NNN-ANDINA
