GAZA, Aug 24 (NNN-XINHUA) —At least 122 Palestinians, including three paramedics, were injured on Friday during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the eastern Gaza Strip.
Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Health Ministry in Gaza, told reporters that 50 were injured by Israeli soldiers’ gunfire.
On Friday afternoon, hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators gathered close to the border between eastern Gaza and Israel, waving Palestinian flags and joining the 71st anti-Israel Great March of Return rally.
Naming this Friday’s rally the day of “Supporting Jerusalem,” the Highest Commission of the March of Return called on Gazans to join the weekly protests on the border.
Witnesses said clashes broke out between Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers, while Israeli media reported that around five homemade grenades were thrown at the soldiers stationed on the border.
No casualties, however, were reported among Israeli soldiers. — NNN-XINHUA
