DUBAI, United Arab Emirate, Aug 22 (NNN-WAM) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE), expressed strong rejection of allegations against the country, over the developments in the Yemeni port city of Aden.
The UAE reaffirmed its determination to continue exerting all efforts, to deescalate the situation in Yemen, as a pan Arab coalition partner, an official said.
The statement came after an address delivered by Saud Al Shamsi, deputy permanent representative and charge d’affaires of the UAE to the United Nations.
Al Shamsi highlighted his country’s extreme concern over the armed clashes in Aden, between the UN-backed government of Yemen and the separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC).
The Aden-based STC previously said its forces rapidly advanced on the ground and declared full control over the neighbouring province of Abyan.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-backed Yemeni government considered the STC’s move as unacceptable, suggesting it may abort Saudi Arabia’s mediation efforts.
“We refuse the continuation in providing financial and military support to the outlawed STC forces by the UAE, and we renew our call for an immediate and complete halt,” the Yemeni Foreign Ministry said.– NNN-WAM
