Venezuela to strengthen food production to challenge US blockade

CARACAS, Aug 18 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — The Venezuelan government is currently implementing new strategies to boost domestic food production and guarantee the Local Committees for Supply and Production (CLAP) as a means to face the economic and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

CLAPs, which include the distribution of food bags and boxes for those in need, is currently supplied with 60% of domestic products, according to official sources.

These achievements are due to the inclusion of the agribusiness sector in the Venezuelan government’s social plan, which has increased the food supply through the Single Food Corporation of the Ministry of Food, as explained by the Secretary of Food Sovereignty of the Government of Miranda, Miguel Marin.

There are commitments and intentions on the part of companies regarding cost structures and adjusting the elements of the production chains of these industries, both the traditional firms as well as the new small and medium-sized enterprises.

CLAPs have adapted to Venezuela’s needs, all resources were at first imported and now we are intending to achieve one hundred percent supply through domestic products. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
