DUBAI, United Arab Emirate, Aug 8 (NNN-WAM) – The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, have allocated 540,000 tonnes of wheat to Sudan, to meet the basic food need for three months, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) announced, on Wednesday.
“The first two batches of 140,000 tonnes of wheat, have already been shipped,” the ADFD said, in a statement.
“Both countries are keen to provide all possible support to Sudan, to overcome difficult conditions and achieve economic stability and food security,” ADFD Director-General, Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, said.
The food shipment falls within the framework of the 3-billion-U.S. dollar, Saudi-UAE joint aid package, to support Sudan’s economic and financial stability, which was announced in Apr.– NNN-WAM
