JBPM optimistic that water resources in resort area will keep missing Irish teen alive

NILAI, Aug 7 (NNN-BERNAMA) — The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has said that it is optimistic and confident that Irish teen Nora Anne Quoirin, 15, who had gone missing from a resort here since Sunday, is still alive.

Its Seremban station chief Mohamad Idris, said the resort area was close to water sources such as rivers and rapids.

“The logic is that after four days of being lost, there is still a chance of survival as there are water sources close by even if there is no food.

“Therefore, the search and rescue operations (SAR) today will be concentrated on the riverbanks and the surroundings of Sungai Berembun, which flows through the area.

Mohamad added that 40 JBPM officers and personnel from Seremban, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor including its Water Rescue Unit (PPDA) had been deployed in the search and rescue (SAR) operations of the missing girl which entered its fourth day today.

“Ten PPDA members have begun diving operations particularly around the rapids and the riverbed.

“Firefighters have been divided into four groups each following a search sector and that includes the forest area,” he said.

Nora Anne who has learning difficulties, arrived with her family at the resort on Saturday for a two-week vacation and was reported missing the following day.

The teenager was found missing from her room at The Dusun resort by her family at 8am.
