KABUL, Afghanistan, Aug 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Several people were killed and more than 30 others wounded, after a massive car bomb explosion ripped through a busy neighbourhood at the western side of the capital, Kabul, on Wednesday (today), a witness said.
“We heard a huge blast outside a district police station, near the Shahid Mazari Square. The whole place has now been sealed off,” witness Shir Mohammad, said.
The blast occurred at app. 9:00 a.m. local time, and was immediately followed by an attack by several militants.
“The nature of the incident seems to be a complex attack against the police headquarters, of Police District 6. The blast also caused massive destruction,” the witness added.
Rescue teams, police and security forces rushed to the site and shifted the wounded to hospitals.
Public health officials confirmed that 34 wounded were admitted to multiple hospitals after the blast.– NNN-AGENCIES
