BRASILIA, Aug 7 (NNN-Xinhua) — The Brazilian administration will present a bill of tax reform for congressional deliberation, said the government’s spokesperson Otavio Rego Barros.
“The economic team is finishing a bill integrated with those existent in the House and Senate,” Rego Barros said in a Tuesday press conference.
According to the spokesperson, the tax reform is “the next step for economic acceleration” in Brazil after the social security system reform, which is currently being voted in a second round in the House and still needs to be approved by the Senate.
Rego Barros expressed the government’s confidence about the approval of the social security reform bill, given the favorable results in the first round of voting in the House where the bill was approved by 379 votes to 131.
The population “understood the need for a significant reform” so that the economy could get sustainable development, according to the spokesperson. — NNN-XINHUA
